BCS Public Relations has been appointed to promote the Government-led National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) across the East Midlands.

The contract follows the earlier announcement that the Nottingham-based public relations agency had become one of three consultancies in the region accredited to work for the Central Office of Information (COI).

The NAS campaign is part of a nation-wide communications programme aimed at raising awareness of the business benefits of taking on Apprentices and showing young people that apprenticeships are a great alternative to pure academic study when starting out in a career. This will give employees even more choice when taking on Apprentices, and generate more opportunities for young people to learn and earn at the same time.

BCS PR is implementing a major multi-channel PR campaign involving TV, radio, press and new media.

Alan Boyden, group managing director of BCS PR, said: “One of the key objectives of this brief is to raise awareness of the benefits of having an apprentice within your organisation, be that commercial or public sector. We’re proud to be associated with this prestigious project and are confident that we can meet the strict campaign performance objectives set by the COI.”

BCS PR will report directly to Jane Williams, marketing and communications manager for the NAS. Jane said: “We’ve got some ambitious targets to achieve over the coming months, including placing over 10,000 young apprentices throughout the East Midlands.

“There are still organisations out there who don’t know enough about how easy it is to take on an apprentice, and the positive benefits it will bring. We’re confident BCS PR will help us change that and I’m looking forward to working closely with them to achieve our goals.”
